Opportunites to Pray Together

Ecumenical Prayer Breakfast 1st Saturday of the month at the Vicarage, from 9am, prayer, coffee and croissant. Next is the 5th April – come, join us and pray for Chilworth, and God’s Kingdom here.
Thursday evening at St Thomas at 7:30 pm for an hour every other week. ** 3rd April.

The Foodbank Larder box is now located in the porch of St Thomas' Church.  Many thanks for your donations.  Suggested items are: - Long life milk /tins tuna/ tins meat/ pasta/sachets microwaveable rice /pasta sauces/curry sauces/cereal/spreads/ tea/ coffee/ hot chocolate/ tins soup/ baked beans

 
 

Chilworth Tinies and Toddler Group

Mondays from 9:15 -10:30am  meet in St Thomas', play chat, pray and support.

 
 

Electoral Roll

New roll being drawn up, fill in a form at back of church and join. Speak to Jenny with any questions.

 
 

Tea Bars

This is a very important source of raising funds for the maintenance of both Churches and is an opportunity to engage with visitors and let them know about our Services and Church Community. We are particularly looking for help and cake donations on the following dates:

27th April – Horseman’s Service – Vounteers and cake donations

11th May - Volunteers

Chilworth Manor Open Garden - 25th May - cake donations.

Monday, 26th May – Volunteers and cake donations

Please contact Helen on 07710750909 with  offers of help either with cake donations (bought are also welcome if you haven't time to bake!) or volunteering to man the T-bar.  Many thanks for all your help with this!

Lent Lunches, St Thomas' 12:00 to 2:00pm on Mondays

Simple soup and roll, fellowship and a discussion about some art as we explore some Lent themes. Mondays 31st March & 7th April.  All welcome.  This week we will look at Hannah and faithfulness in art.

 
 

Easter Services

We will have a seder style fellowship meal on Maundy Thursday, a 3.5 hour meditation and witness walk on Good Friday, Service of light on Easter Saturday, Sunrise on Easter Sunday, alongside our normal services. More details to follow. All welcome to attend all or any.

 
 

School Visits

Really exciting, not only is our first school coming to St Thomas on Monday for their Easter Service, and having their pilgrimage to St Martha’s in May with Bishop Paul, but St Martha’s will be visited by Holy Trinity school on 1st and St Georges’ School from Weybridge are visiting on the 19th April.

 
 

A Place for Us – West Side Story Lent course - Parish of Shere

A place for us – West Side Story – film discussion of key scenes and Lent passages, reflecting on Fear, Love, Belonging, Death and Reconciliation. Meet at Gomshall Club, 5 Mondays 10th March onwards, at 7:30 till 9pm. For further information contact admin@parishofshere.com or chat to Tim.

 
 

 

ANZAC Day - 25th April

Service at 4pm at St Martha's outside at the grave of General Freyberg, with Australian and New Zealand military in attendance as well as senior counsellor staff (hopefully), and the deputy from New Zealand house.

Followed by refreshments in the church if wet.

 
 

Horseman's Service 27th April  2.00 pm

Join us for a community gathering on St Martha's Hill with an optional short service by Vicar David Oakden. Riders choosing to participate in the service can have their horses blessed and recieve a rosette. Tea and cake will also be available in return for donations to support the Parish churches and the Surrey Hills. Walkers and dogs on leads all welcome

Broad Horizons Book Group

Broad horizons - monthly book discussion group. First meeting of 2025 is on Tues 29th April 7-8.30pm at St Martha's. Warm clothes advised as we aim to sit outside. Book to be discussed is Orbital by Samantha Harvey.

 
 

Music at St Martha's

Looking ahead - Summer Music on the Hilltop - Bank holiday Monday 26th May. Jazz at noon followed by a series of informal recitals, this year including a harp recital by a talented young Ukrainian student

Used Stamps for Oxfam

 Please place used stamps in the box at the back of St Thomas' which will stay there all year and be emptied as and when it gets full.

 
 

ALPHA: - We are aiming to start an Alpha Course this year, please pray and think who you would like to invite and maybe get involved as well.
