The five weeks of Lent between Ash Wednesday (this year March 5) and Easter are an opportunity to take time to reflect on our lives and faith – what we believe and how we live. Hearing from others with different experiences is a hugely valuable part of this so each year we have gathered together using a film as a springboard.
This year we are using A Place for Us which is an original Lent course based on the recent film production of West Side Story directed by Steven Spielberg and featuring the songs of Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein. Through study and discussion of key scenes from the movie, related to Lent passages from scripture, Lavinia Byrne and Jane McBride help us to reflect on fear, love, belonging, death and reconciliation and how they relate to our situation and experience.
This will take place in the Gomshall Club at 7.30pm on five Monday evenings, beginning March 10 (finishing 9pm). Grab a drink from the bar and join in the discussion in the lounge. This is open to everyone, whatever your faith, doubts or questions are. For further information contact admin@parishofshere.com or chat to Tim.
