To be eligible to be married at St Martha-on-the-Hill or St Thomas’: either one or both of you need to have a Qualifying Connection/s with one of the parishes within the geographical boundary of the Benefice of Shere, Albury and Chilworth, which includes the following churches:
- Shere, St James
- Peaslake, St Mark
- Albury, St Peter and St Paul
- Chilworth, St Martha-on-the-Hill
- Chilworth, St Thomas
The following are Qualifying Connections:
- I was baptised in one of the Benefice churches
- I have been confirmed and my confirmation is entered in the register belonging to one of the Benefice churches
- My parent or grandparent was married in one of the Benefice churches
- I have had my usual place of residence in the Benefice for at least 6 months during my lifetime
- My parent has had his/her usual place of residence in the Benefice for at least 6 months during my lifetime
- I have habitually attended public worship at services in the Benefice for at least 6 months during my lifetime
- My parent has habitually attended public worship at services in the Benefice for at least 6 months during my lifetime
